MetaShield does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All photo processing happens entirely on your device. No internet connection is ever required or made.
MetaShield collects no personal information. The app stores the following data locally on your device only:
MetaShield requests read/write access to your Photos library solely to read image metadata and write back the scrubbed version. Photos are processed locally and never leave your device. The app accesses only the photos you explicitly select.
MetaShield uses Apple's non-destructive editing API (PHContentEditingOutput). Your original photo is always preserved and recoverable via Photos → Edit → Revert.
Depending on your settings, MetaShield can remove the following metadata from photos:
Removed metadata is not stored or logged by the app — it is simply omitted from the saved photo.
MetaShield processes photos in your iOS Photos library. Some metadata may be re-added by iOS, iCloud, or third-party apps when you share a photo. You are responsible for verifying the scrubbed result before sharing sensitive photos. The built-in Verification panel shows what was removed.
MetaShield makes no network requests of any kind. There are no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no crash reporting services. The app functions entirely offline.
MetaShield does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising frameworks. The only Apple system framework used for payments is StoreKit for the one-time purchase — Apple handles the transaction entirely and MetaShield never sees your payment information.
Preset configurations are stored locally using iOS UserDefaults. Deleting the app permanently removes all stored data. No data is synced to iCloud or any external service.
MetaShield does not collect data from anyone. Since no data leaves the device, there are no age-based restrictions on data handling.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
